The days after a child’s birthday party feel sort of like the days after Christmas. There’s an abundance of new toys to try out and one happy kid!
We had so much fun using Mordecai’s nap times to try out all of Sadie’s new birthday gifts that weren’t exactly toddler friendly. Namely, candle making and flower crown making! My mom and dad gave Sadie a kit for each hobby and they kept us busy learning all afternoon!
It had been quite some time since I last made a candle (I miss that hobby!), and I really enjoyed doing it with Sadie. She loved choosing her own scent combination (she used every scent oil included in the package, lol!), adding color to her candle, and decorating the outside.
After we got wax all over the counters, we moved onto flower crowns! We’ve tried to make them with fresh flowers in the past, but having a kit was much easier and cuter.
I had just as much fun as she did playing with these gifts! We also used her new sticker book to make sweets and treats. Not going to lie, it gave me some ideas for baked goods, haha!
Another fun thing after Sadie’s party was the Homeschool Day at the Pittsburgh Zoo. It’s an annual event for homeschoolers held each fall. There were educational programs and discounted tickets. We had a such a great time walking around the zoo with my mom and dad and a few members of our homeschool co-op.
What else has been happening lately?! Hmm, lots of Etsy orders.
Happy birthday chocolate covered Oreos! And….

And some time at the library with Sadie girl! She requested a just-us-girls trip to the library so we made that happen. She is a big fan of the library and it makes my heart so happy!
Speaking of Sadie, we celebrated her sixth birthday this week! I’ll blog all about her special day (Jimmy took off work to hang out with us 🎉) in my next post 😊

These candle kits look awesome. I have always wanted to learn how to make candles. I am quite sensitive to artificial smells, but I love candles, so I could just make mine without too much scent! That’s more than you needed to know! LOL.
It was so fun!! Definitely something you could do with a friend for a fun evening! You should totally try it!! If we lived by each other I’d do it with ya!
I’m so glad Sadie enjoyed all of her birthday gifts! She is quite the crafty girl, that’s for sure!
She absolutely loved ’em! Thank you!!
