We celebrated our second Thanksgiving as a family of four!
Both kids were still sick (more on that at the end of the post 🤪) but we made the best of it!
Sadie’s temperature was 104 the night before, so we let her sleep between us because we were worried about her and she was just so sad. After everyone was up in the morning, we went to Starbucks. Mom and dad needed the extra caffeine boost!
We cleaned up around the house and Sadie made a Thanksgiving handprint craft when she was feeling good.
We pulled out our best china to set the table and Sadie said “This looks like a restaurant!” 😂Â
Mordecai had a fever, so we gave him Tylenol and he took a good nap. I was able to get ready… like curl my hair, put on makeup, and even painted mine and Sadie’s nails! It felt nice to take care of myself a little.
We put the turkey in the oven around lunchtime and even had a chance to get out in the sunshine and take a quick walk with the kids and Niva. We made sure to bundle them up! Well, not Niva… 40 degrees is her kind of weather!
Jimmy’s family arrived around 4:30 and we ate at 5:00. We had all the usual Thanksgiving fixings: turkey, sweet potato casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, salad, apple pie, and pumpkin pie!
Mordecai was feeling really warm after dinner, and sure enough he had a high fever. Poor buddy got some medicine and went to bed. Sadie fell asleep on the couch after dinner and slept almost straight through the night until morning.
Jimmy cranked up our outdoor heater, the adults got in the hot tub, and we relaxed for a bit before everyone headed home. Jimmy and I cleaned up and crashed.
In the morning, Sadie and I watched A Charlie Brown Christmas on TV and it was so festive and cozy!
Sadie has recently discovered Peanuts and is loving it! She said her favorite character is Charlie Brown.
Once Mordecai was awake, we realized he wasn’t feeling any better. I called the pediatrician’s office and was able to have him seen mid-morning.
The doctor looked him over, checked out his ears, and swabbed him for the flu and COVID. Our poor little guy has croup, a double ear infection, and COVID. He’s such a trooper. I went to the pharmacy to pick up ibuprofen and his antibiotics and then he laid down for a nap.
He’s napping still as I type up this post a few hours later. He must be wiped out from the sickness.
Our Thanksgiving was really nice, sickness and all. We’re thankful Jimmy’s family is okay with sick kids and everyone still wanted to come for dinner. I especially enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub!
Hopefully the kids have got all their sickness out of the way so we can have a healthy Christmas 😉

Wow, poor baby! I have never heard of someone having croup, two ear infections, AND COVID all at once! Such a trooper
Ugh, right!! I feel so bad. He is in good spirits, though!
Poor Mordecai! That’s so miserable to be sick with three different ailments at once. I just got better from a double ear infection which made me feel exhausted last week, so I can’t imagine what it’s like to have croup and COVID on top of it.
I’m glad you were still able to have a family Thanksgiving. I hope you all stay well and healthy for Christmas.
Aw man, a double ear infection as an adult sounds really tough! I hope you’re 100% now!!
Thanks for the well wishes for Christmas! I am looking forward to no more sickness for a while 😂
Looks like such a nice Thanksgiving day even with the kids being sick!
Poor little guys 😔hope they get better quick!
Love 💕 you!

The pics in this post are PRICELESS! I truly love Sadie’s artistic abilities!! I’m glad Deck was put on an antibiotic! Love you
Thank you so much!! I’m glad he was able to get some medicine, too!
