Traveling to the Creation Museum in Petersburg, KY

Where we went: the Creation Museum in Petersburg, KY
When we went: October 2023
Where we stayed: Homewood Suites by Hilton (Cincinnati Airport South-Florence)

We had been wanting to visit the Creation Museum for years! It’s a family-friendly museum near Cincinnati that brings the Bible to life with history, creation science, exhibits, and more.

We left Pittsburgh on Monday morning and made the drive to Kentucky in about 4.5 hours. I don’t know why, but I always dread the getting ready part of a trip.

Packing, dropping Niva off at boarding, making sure the house is tidied up and the fridge is empty is always a little extra work and takes up brain space, but it’s worth it for the blessing of being able to travel and experience new things!

Thankfully our drive there was super uneventful! We let Sadie use her learning game system and that kept her busy most of the drive. Mordecai napped and I read this book!

My mom and dad drove separately and met us at the Creation Museum. We walked through gorgeous botanical gardens and headed into the museum. The museum itself is so neat.

It centers around the seven C’s in God’s eternal plan, which are Creation, corruption, catastrophe, confusion, Christ, cross, and consummation. There are exhibits to represent each “C” like a replica of the Garden of Eden.

There were exhibits about insects, dinosaurs, pregnancy and conception (I loved this one!), and what life in Israel was like in Jesus’ time. Each exhibit showed how science and history prove that the Bible is accurate and just how amazing God’s Word is.

We watched a free show in the museum’s 4D movie theater called 6 Days and it totally immersed us in what Creation was like. Basically Genesis 1 came to life before our eyes.

The dinosaur exhibit was a favorite of Sadie’s! We were able to touch a huge dinosaur bone that was found in Montana. It was pretty wild!

There were a lot of options as far as food and drinks within the museum. We had food at Noah’s Cafe, which had hot and cold options like chili, sandwiches, and burgers.

We also grabbed coffee at the Tree of Life Cafe and ice cream from Noah’s Ice Cream and Coffee.

Once we made our way through the museum (and bookstore!), we walked through the botanical gardens, went to the petting zoo, and played with Sadie on the playground.

There was so much to see and learn and do! The museum and the grounds were immaculate and the workers were all so kind. It was bustling and busy for a Monday in October but the atmosphere was so wonderful.

The hotel we stayed at was great and I’d definitely recommend it. It was about 15 minutes from the museum and had a pool, rooms with multiple bedrooms, a delicious free breakfast, and was also very clean and well-cared for.

I’ll be back soon with another post about the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, KY 😊
