Rocking the Quarry, A Homemade Dollhouse, and Weekend Things

Friday night was spent at Kennywood and Saturday was another great day! We started the day with a family coffee date outside.

Mom with kids at Starbucks

We ordered ahead (a regular coffee for me!) but I saw Starbucks had their new fall menu up when I went inside to pick up our order. I might have to get something pumpkin-flavored soon!

In the evening, we went to an event on a trail near us called Rock the Quarry.

There’s a rock quarry along the trail where bands played music, vendors sold food and goods, kids played games, and a there was a rubber duck race in the creek!

Sadie played a few games, we listened to music, and had so much fun watching over 500 rubber ducks race down the creek.

Sunday was spent doing Sunday things like napping in the car on the way to and from church but not at home 😉

Hugs were doled out in abundance.

Sadie and I spent the afternoon creating a dollhouse out of a cardboard boxes, paper, stickers, and a hot glue gun. I had three loads of laundry to fold, floors to vacuum, and other chores but crafting with Sadie felt more important.

Parenting is such a balance between productivity and play. I know I’ll always have chores but I won’t always have a little girl who wants to make a dollhouse with me.

Jimmy even let us cut up one of his old shirts so we could make a doll. We just rolled up pieces of the shirt and glued on eyes and string for the hair.

I might be up to my eyeballs in laundry today and maybe our floors are a little dirtier than I’d like… but that smile! It’s worth it.

Tell me about your weekend!

How do you feel about fall-themed drinks and food?
