First Look Pictures

Okay, more wedding pictures! I’ll be sharing our first look pictures and more pictures from before the ceremony in this post.

Jimmy and I decided that we wanted to see each other before the ceremony so that we could have time to talk and really take each other in before we tied the knot. We were also able to knock some pictures out so we could spend more time at our reception.

Without further ado, here are our first look pictures…

The photographer instructed all the groomsmen and Jimmy to face away from the church entrance. She told me to walk up behind them, and everyone standing around counted to three and then Jimmy turned around.

I am really enjoying putting together these wedding posts because I feel like I’m reliving the big day all over again. When we were taking the photo above, there was a bee flying around and I had just finished telling my mom and sister how I was pretty sure the bee would fly up my dress and sting me or something crazy. Things like that always happen to me, haha.

The first look pictures were a lot of fun to take! It’s hard to describe exactly how I felt. Jimmy and I had always imagined our wedding day, and what it would be like when we first saw each other all dressed up. I remember feeling so incredibly excited, blessed, and happy when we took our first look pictures. It was definitely a moment that was years in the making and it was pure joy :).

What’s your opinion on first look pictures?

Yay or nay? You won’t hurt my feelings! Many people told me they were appalled that Jimmy and I wanted to see each other before the ceremony, haha.

    1. Aw, thank you so much! I’m glad you agree on the idea of first look pictures! It was definitely different from the traditional see-the-bride-at-the-altar idea, buuuut we really enjoyed what we did!

  1. These are so great!! My favorite is the one of you with your mom and sister (and I love the back story about the bee!).

I am really glad that Kevin and I did a first look. It was a special moment for both of us.

    1. Thank you so much, Amy!! Can you link to your first look pictures?! I want to see them again! I think I remember Kevin spinning you in some of your wedding pictures?! Maybe I’m going crazy though… lol.

      1. Ooo, I’ll gladly link to our first look pictures!! I love having an excuse to look at them again. So special. http://adesertgirl.wordpress.com/2013/06/21/05-24-2013-to-first-look-or-not-to-first-look/
We don’t have any spinning pictures – but we do have one from the first dance that is pretty cute. It looks like we’re having a special moment, but really he was stepping on my dress and we were getting tripped up! 🙂 Ahh, memories. It yielded a great picture! (Kind of like the bee picture with your mom and sister!)

  2. You are absolutely gorgeous. First look pictures aren’t for me but it’s your wedding. It’s a moment you will never forget and that is all that matters.

  3. We chose not to do the first look thing. I didn’t have much of a reason for it other than we wanted to save seeing each other until the actually ceremony. I love your pictures, though!! I love the one of you three pretty ladies 🙂

  4. Had you asked me, when I was planning my wedding 5 1/2 years ago, about first-look pictures, I definitely would have said ‘nay’. But they are becoming more and more popular, and I honestly now see why! 🙂 My best friend Ashley did first look photo’s, and I was in her wedding last month so I got to see – first hand – how special the moment was. She and her groom had SO much more time to really take each other in, which helped time to slow down a bit for the ceremony. They really appreciated everything so much more, I think. ALSO, we all appreciated that some photo’s were able to be taken before the ceremony, which meant we had time to eat at the cocktail hour. 😉
SO I am now officially a huge fan of first-look pictures!!! And yours are absolutely priceless! I know I say this every time, but you are so gorgeous! 🙂 I love the excited look on Jimmy’s face once he saw you. So sweet!
LOVING these wedding recap posts!!!!! 🙂

    1. You are so right, it’s such a sweet, special moment to have! It was great to have time to just gawk at each other and be giddy about the future together. I loved it, and I wouldn’t change a thing about it! And yes to being able to hit up the reception/food sooner, haha! I am all about that, too!

  5. I am definitely for “first look” photos! We did them and I’m so glad we did! 🙂

  6. My favorite picture is the one of you and Hannah! I think everyone gets married in the way that makes the most of the day for them. If you wanted to see Jimmy before the wedding, you should have! 🙂

  7. Aww, Allie, I love these pictures! The last one of you with your mom and your sister is my favorite…you’re all so beautiful! I have never heard of doing a “first look”, but I love the idea!

    1. Thank you, Carli! I love that picture so much, too! I can’t wait to get a ton of them printed out! It’s so hard to choose which ones, haha. Doing first look pictures was so much fun!

  8. I cannot get over that photo of you, your sister, and your mom where you are looking up. Absolutely STUNNING! I love this, and the idea of first look photos is totally legit, I feel like it takes the pressure away too! HA.

  9. So cute so cute so cute. I can just see all of the love and happiness in all of your faces!! I don’t think there’s anything wrong with first look pictures. I think it even makes it more special for the two of you!
