In my last post, I hinted that I would be going on a fun adventure while on vacation in North Carolina.
I’m happy to report that the adventure most definitely happened and it was epic!
My dad, sister, and I went horseback riding at Equine Adventures in Frisco, NC. We rode for 45 minutes on gorgeous trails in Buxton Woods, and then spent 15 minutes riding on the beach.
As we came out of the woods and crossed one last sand dune before reaching the beach, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse was visible and absolutely gorgeous. The beach was practically empty and really allowed us to see the natural beauty of Hatteras Island.
The whole experience was simply incredible.

It was Hannah’s first time horseback riding, so she was a little apprehensive. Thankfully, she ended up loving it. The only thing she didn’t love? A sore butt the next day!
My horse’s name was Cash. He made me laugh because he kept eating leaves while we were on the trails.
My dad grew up on a farm in a rural area of Pennsylvania. He used to own horses, and even rode bareback (without a saddle) often. Needless to say, he was super excited to trot and canter on the beach.
Throughout the whole ride, I kept thinking about how beautiful God’s creation is. The horses we rode were so gentle, and the ocean went on for miles and miles. It was truly an experience of a lifetime!

Oh my goodness, it’s like a scene out of a movie! Horseback riding on the beach?! I love it!
It was truly an amazing experience! It still doesn’t seem real!
Oh my gosh, this looks like the most amazing day ever! I love how your horse kept grabbing snacks on the walk, ha!
I’m like Hannah – I have never ridden a horse before, either! It’s actually one of my goals for the summer 🙂
ps – HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope you get to go horseback riding this summer! It’s such a cool experience and I know how much you LOVE animals, so I think you’d really enjoy it. Thanks for the happy birthday wish!
It looks like you had a great time and the pictures are beautiful. I’ve never been on a horse… I’ve actually not been near horses very much. But, this seems like a fun thing to do while on vacation!
Horseback riding is fun! It’s definitely scary at first (to me), but one I get used to it I just love it! Except my butt being sore the next few days.
I’ve never been horseback riding but I’m sure it was incredible! I’d love to try it someday. I’m glad you had a great time!
I bet you would love horseback riding!!
I LOVE riding… have never done it on a beach (ironically as I live in Florida) and I want to so bad!
Get your butt on a horse and go ride on the beach! You won’t regret it!
Wow that seriously looks amazing. I’m glad you had a great time there!
It was awesome! I’m so bummed I couldn’t see you! Maybe you’ll visit Pittsburgh soon 😉
I went horseback riding one time and my legs were KILLING me the next day! I feel for your sister lol! I would love to ride horses on the beach. It would be a beautiful experience considering I am always in awe when I see other people riding them!
Yes! I think you would love horseback riding on the beach!
Gorgeous!!!! It really looks like a movie set. That scenery…the horses…your family having fun. All awesome. As a friend of mine said when he saw the Grand Canyon for the first time, “Good job, God.”
Exactly. God is GOOD!
This looks so fun! I ride horses a lot but never on the beach! Jealous 🙂
We should horseback ride together!
You dad looks so natural on that horse! I LOVE those photos of him by the water! Great shots. I am actually WHOA scared of horses haha. I’ve only been riding a few time and last time was when I was 17. I was in Utah at a resort and one of the activities was horseback riding. Well they took us up a mountain and I WAS RIGHT ON THE EDGE!!!? I was like uhhhh this horse takes one wrong step and WE BOTH go down. It was traumatizing you can see. HAH. Glad you had fun!
Oh my gosh! I would have got off that horse and freaked out and then cried!
Wowza these pictures are gorgeous! What an amazing experience. I haven’t rode a horse in YEARS, probably since I was about 6 or 7. Jealous!
It was so cool and I just loved it! I wonder if you can horseback ride by Assateague?!
Oh my gosh, what gorgeous photos! That’s so neat that you, Hannah, and your dad got to ride horses on the beach. What a unique experience! I agree with Brittany (and I though this before I even read that your dad used to own horses), but he really does look like he’s in his natural habitat on top of that horse!
Hope you are having a wonderful birthday, Allie!
Now that I look at the pictures again, he DOES look like a natural, huh?! Pretty cool! I wish I was that comfortable on a horse!
Horseback riding on the beach?! How spectacular!!
It was quite spectacular indeed 🙂
Happy birthday lady! Love these beach pictures
Thanks Alex 🙂
I love the pictures, too. I think I may get some framed!
Wow it looks like you had a great time! I love horseback riding. It is definitely an incredible way to appreciate God’s creations. It looks like you had lovely weather for horseback riding!
My thoughts exactly. I felt very close to God and His awesome creation throughout the whole ride. It was such a blessing! The weather was great, too!
Those are some wonderful pictures. What a great memory this post will make! Happy Father’s Day to your dad! It looks like you and your sister had an awesome time with him 🙂
Oh,How beautiful and fun!!!! I went horseback riding for the first time in the mountains of Colorado….gorgeous but also a bit of a scary way to start out…. I had a very stubborn horse who seemed determined to throw me off of those mountains haha. But I lived to tell the tale and see these lovely pictures so yay! 😛
