Miss Laura’s Kielbasa Butter Beans Recipe

We’ve been having Bible studies at our house the past few Friday nights. For each study, everyone that attends brings a side dish or dessert. Last night, we decided to do a dinner of burgers and barbecue chicken. Our group is made up of members from our church, and one of them is Miss Laura. She’s such a special person to everyone who knows her. If I could use three words to describe her they would be gentle, warm, and gracious. I wish everyone had a Miss Laura in their life.

Back to the beans! When Miss Laura texted our group and said she would bring kielbasa butter beans, I was so excited. They’re one of those dishes that, once you’ve had it, you start to hope they show up at every cookout and fellowship meal you attend.

She arrived with the beans. Everyone feasted. I asked if I could share her recipe here on the blog and she said yes! So, without further ado, here’s the best side dish out there! Thanks for sharing, Miss Laura.

Kielbasa Butter Beans

Ingredients
3 x 16oz cans of butter beans, rinsed
1 x 130z bottle of ketchup
1 x 14.5 oz. can diced stewed tomatoes
1lb kielbasa or smoked sausage, sliced (see note)
1 green pepper, chopped
1 cup brown sugar, packed

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350°
2. Mix all ingredients together and place in an oven-safe dish.
3. Bake at 350° for 1-1.5 hours. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes From Miss Laura
–> I always use Eckrich Skinless Smoked Sausage or kielbasa.
–> Feel free to tweak it however you want. I’ve added barbecue sauce in place of some of the ketchup and I’ve decreased the amount of sugar before and that was good too.
