Sadie at Five Years Old

It’s kind of blowing my mind that Sadie is five years old. I seriously feel like she was just Mordecai’s age–10 months. I don’t know where the past five years have gone but they have been some of the absolute best of my entire life.

Here’s what our Sadie girl is like as a five year old.

Growth Sadie is 38lbs (38%) and 3’6.9” (60%).

Wearing She’s now in little girls sizes! She usually wears XS or S. Her feet are big–she’s in a size 12 shoe. She likes to wear leggings and t-shirts and dresses on Sundays or for special occasions. She loves anything glittery, pink, or with animals.

Eating Sadie likes pancakes, strawberries, apples, soup, mac and cheese, and pasta. Her favorite snacks are applesauce pouches and graham crackers. Her favorite drink is orange juice!

Personality Joyful and sweet. Sadie is a ray of sunshine and wants to be friends with everyone she meets.

Nicknames Sade, Sader Tot, Tot, and T.

Sleeping She goes to bed anywhere from 8pm-9pm and wakes up at 6 am because she refuses to let Jimmy leave for work without saying goodbye. She sometimes takes a catnap in the evening if we’re driving.

Looks Like A mix of Jimmy and me, but definitely more like Jimmy’s side of the family than mine!

New Skills She graduated from speech therapy(!), knows the alphabet, goes underwater and is beginning to swim a bit on her own in our hot tub, can count to 50, is starting to read three letter words, can ride a bike with training wheels, is able to buckle herself into her booster seat, and can write the letters of the alphabet.

Likes Our family (immediate and extended), being with people, going to church, crafts, stuffed animals, coloring, painting, decorating, animals, playing with Legos, watching movies, reading with mom, being outside, and swimming in our hot tub.

Dislikes Jimmy leaving for work or being away from her (she loves her daddy), leaving church, and vegetables.

Favorite Products Slip-on shoes, Bird and cage toy, Zoey and Sassafras books, Ivy and Bean books, diving gems, goggles, pajamas, retractable markers, glass cups, water bottle, nightlight, kinetic sand, and paint.

Other Notes Some random quirks: she always puts her shoes on the wrong feet. Like, I think she prefers to wear her shoes on the wrong feet?! It gives me the heebie jeebies just thinking about it, lol.

She also makes everyone do a “hair flip” when they leave our house. I don’t know how it started, but if you leave our house you have to flip your hair while Sadie watches out the window. Doesn’t matter if your bald or not, it’s a tradition 😂

That’s everything for Sader Tot at five years old! She’s pure joy and we are blesed to call her ours 💜

  1. The hair flip rule and the waking up early to say goodbye to Jimmy are just so sweet!

Belated happy birthday to Sadie! I remember reading your blog posts and updates when you wrote about her as a newborn. Doesn’t time fly?!

    1. I have no idea how the hair flip rule started but I just love it. And also feel bad for everyone who leaves our house, haha!

Thank you for the birthday wishes for Sadie! Time truly does fly! I remember being in college when we first became blog friends and now years later we’re still friends! Makes me so happy 🙂

      1. Me too! 🙂 It must have been at least 10 years ago as I was also in college. It would be lovely to meet up for a coffee one day if I’m ever in the US or you’re in the UK.

By the way, I’ll reply to your last letter soon!

  2. She is such a blessing to our lives. She certainly does brighten up any room she enters, and I love how much time I’m able to spend with her and Deck.
You and Jimmy are certainly very blessed 😇

  3. Sadie is such a blessing! She just lights up the room when she walks in! And she is so sweet! We love 💕 her so much! The past five years have been so precious with her. It’s hard to imagine a world with Sadie!
