Sadie at Eight Months

I’m here with Sadie’s eight month update! Here’s what’s going on with Sader Tot this month 🙂

Baby in yellow gingham romper

Growth We haven’t been to the pediatrician to have her measured, but I’d guess she’s around 16 pounds and 27 inches tall.

Wearing Six and nine month clothes and size three diapers. We switched to Pampers Baby Dry diapers for overnight and yay for no more leaks and washing sheets every single day!

Personality Sadie is so silly and fun-loving! She’s always happy to do whatever I’m doing and goes with the flow of our little family.

Eating Still mostly breastmilk! I need to do better about feeding her solids more often. I was super pumped about it when she turned six months, then I realized how much work it is.

When I first started nursing Sadie and we struggled with so many issues, I couldn’t wait to start solids. Now I’m like can I just nurse her till she’s 16?

Nicknames Sader Tot, Tot, Totling, Tottle Berry, Todd, Toddy, and Mini Jimmy.

Sleeping Sadie slept through the night once recently and it was glorious! It hasn’t happened since, but I’m holding out hope for the future lol. She goes to bed between 7:00 and 8:00 pm and is up a few times in the night, and then up for the day between 6:00 and 7:00 am.

Naps are all over the place, but she usually takes three in a day ranging from 30 minutes to an hour. Also, she sleeps with her little bum in the air.

Looks Like Mostly her dad, but maybe me a little bit 🙂

New Skills Sadie has been crawling! She would rather stand than crawl, but she does crawl when she wants something badly enough. She babbles va-va-va now and definitely knows her name.

Likes Being in my arms, standing, trying to walk, our pets, being outside, swimming, going on walks, swings, sitting in shopping carts, her grandparents, and other kids and babies.

Dislikes Being changed and being put in her carseat. She arches her back, cries, and tries to wiggle away. Do any fellow parts have tips?!

Favorite Products Banana toothbrush, Pampers Baby Dry diapers, Shake and Sort Cupcakes, Little Green Frog book, Baby Ball Pit, Teething necklace, Stacking Rings, Baby Piano, and Bath Book.

Other Notes Sadie went swimming for the first time and loved it. We also discovered that she adores having her nose suctioned with the bulb syringe. We crack up almost as hard as she does over that!

I think that about wraps it up for month eight. Sadie is such a joy and becoming more fun each and every day! We’re so thankful for the blessing of being her parents ❤

  1. Aw!! Love you all so much! Sadie is so happy and healthy- you and Jimmy are amazing, loving parents.

    Love you,
    Madre

    1. She really is! I can’t believe she’ll be a year in September… like how?! I am so relieved nursing is going well, too! It was quite the struggle but so worth it!

  2. She’s so cute! Rocking it at 8 months old! I don’t really have advice for making her hate being changed or put in a car seat less, but I empathize. Owen in particular doesn’t like the former and I remember Ava struggling with the latter for a bit. I try to just talk to them in a calm, reassuring voice (“I know – it’s no fun to stop playing and have to lay on this table and get a fresh diaper, but I promise it’ll feel good to have a clean one on and you’ll be back to playing in no time!” Or “I know – it’s no fun to be buckled into your car seat, but this is the safest place for you to be while we go to XYZ and Mama and Daddy always want you to be safe.”) You’re probably already doing that! It is amazing and never to be underestimated just how much babies understand. And if nothing else, the calm voice will let her know you hear her. You could also keep a couple of toys in the car that she only gets to play with in her car seat and maybe that would help calm her down quickly once she’s buckled in. Same goes for changing table for that matter, but I’ve found it’s such a short time on the changing table that it leads to another crying fit if you try to take away the only-for-the-changing-table-toy once they’re done with the diaper change, so then it just becomes a a regular toy and doesn’t have the novelty to be a distraction during the next diaper change.

    1. Thank you so much for the advice with changing and the car seat! We’ve been trying using a calm voice and also having special toys and it seems to be helping a lot! 🙂

  3. We have that same romper (in the last picture of her)! Twins! 🙂 She is growing up so fast. What a sweet little girl!

  4. I LOVE these updates!! ‘Sader Tot’ is my fave nickname ever so I’m so happy that you guys are still using that one. ❤ How funny that she enjoys the nose bulb sucker thing, she's just sooo freakin' adorable and YES, she does look a bit like you, too!!
