Hi guys! Today I want to review some awesome bars that were sent to me by Natural Balance Foods, which is a British company that makes healthy snacks.
Natural Balance Foods makes Eat Nākd Bars, which are fruit and nut bars made with 100% natural ingredients. The bars have no added sugars, syrups or other ingredients that don’t belong in fruit and nut bars. Since they’re so simple, the bars are naturally wheat, dairy, and gluten free.
I was sent a variety box of Eat Nākd bars in compensation for my honest review of the bars, so here we go!
The box included 13 different bars, so I decided to recruit my family to help me review all of them and to get other opinions besides my own. I passed out different flavors to my parents, brother, sister-in-law, Jimmy, and of course myself! We all tried bites of each other’s and also had full bars on our own to see how we liked them.
Some of us had them with coffee as a snack, and my brother and sister-in-law had theirs for breakfast. I’m going to share everyone’s review and rating on a scale of 1-10 (1 being awful, and 10 being amazing).
Cocoa crunch
Rating: 8.5
“This was good. It could have been crunchier, but I still liked it.” -Jimmy
Strawberry Crunch
Rating: 9.5
“This had a really good strawberry flavor. It also wasn’t as crunchy as I expected it to be.” -Jimmy
Rhubarb and Custard
Rating: 8.0
“This is sweet in a good way since it’s healthy! I taste more dates than rhubarb, though.” -Lisa (my mom)
“I like that this is so sweet.” -Bill (my dad)
“Good flavor. Nice and sweet.” -Jimmy
(Yes, they all wanted to try this bar, so they split it three ways!)
Cocoa Orange
Rating: 10
“I would eat this every day as a part of a snack. I love the combo of chocolate and orange!” -Me
Banana Crunch
Rating 10
“This was excellent. The banana flavor didn’t taste artificial like many banana flavored fruit and nut bars do. It wasn’t super crunchy, but I liked it soft anyways. I would definitely eat this again.”
I ate the cocoa orange bar when Jimmy and I were running errands last Saturday. It was a simple, quick, and delicious snack that I felt good about eating. One thing I will make note of is that the bars are pretty small. They’re packed with flavor and nutrition, but I would probably eat two at a time for a snack to really tide me over between meals.
I ate the banana crunch bar on my way home from the dentist. It made sitting in rush hour traffic a little less unbearable ;). I was grinning so hard because my dental cleaning went well and the bar was excellent!
Caffe Mocha
Rating: 10
“You can really taste the mocha and coffee flavors, which pair excellently with the dates and cashews. No flavor is too overpowering and the sweet and savory combination is the perfect mixture to provide the energy any coffee lover seeks.” -Will and Racquel (My brother and sister-in-law)
Bakewell Tart
Rating: 10
“If you love a raspberry-esque flavored pastry that packs a punch of energy, then this bar is for you. It’s sweet and savory, and light yet filling to fuel your energy for the day. It’s an excellent meal replacement for anyone who loves a good, fruity pastry.” -Will and Racquel
Cocoa Mint
Rating: 5
“I just didn’t like it. It tasted like a weird combo” -Jim
Berry Delight
Rating: 7
“This tasted just like berries. The only reason I’m rating it a seven is because there was a hard seed in it that crunched against my tooth.” -Jim
“Stop taking pictures of me while I’m eating!” -Jim
Cashew Cookie
Rating: 7
“I mostly taste dates more than cashews, but the sweetness of this is perfect.” -Lisa
Pecan Pie
Rating: 10
“This tastes healthy! This is very good.” -Bill
Apple Crunch
Rating: 6
“This was a little bland compared to the pecan pie bar. I liked that one more, but I would still eat this one again.” -Bill
Ginger Bread
Rating: 7
“Love the cinnamon flavor in this. It paired well with coffee.” -Lisa
Cocoa Delight
Rating: 8.5
“We both think this is delicious.” -Bill and Lisa
My parents are too cute. They sent me pictures of their Eat Nākd Bars with their coffee for a Sunday afternoon snack. My dad said his favorite bar was definitely the pecan pie. He kept raving about it and comparing it to the others, haha.
So there you have it, our review of Eat Nākd Bars. If you’re interested in learning more about Natural Balance Foods, you can check out their website here. They also posted an interesting article on iron rich foods that’s worth checking out!
I LOVE nakd bars! But Cocoa Orange is one of my faves too! Also, I ALWAYS eat two (sometimes three!) at a time! 🙂
Amen, Kaila! They’re so good!!
Oh my goodness, you have Nakd bars in the States too?! They are one of my favourite snacks — I love the Berry Delight, Caffe Mocha and Cocoa Orange bars. Perhaps I should try and get a box to review. 😉
Yes! Well, I think people in the States actually have to order them. I haven’t seen them in stores… yet! I hope I do, though!! You totally should get a box to review! I’d love to read your opinions on all of the flavors 🙂
P.S. The iron-rich foods article is interesting. Sometimes when I’m feeling fatigued or stressed from being busy, I take Floradix (a natural iron supplement that includes herbs and vitamins — it tastes yummy!) and I really notice the difference in my energy level. Perhaps I should try eating more iron-rich foods too.
That’s super interesting, Grace! I’ll have to look into the Floradix for my mom, as she struggles to get enough iron in her diet!
I got these bars to review a while back too and I ate my last one today. The crunch ones, especially cocoa crunch, were my favorites by far. Cashew cookie was my least favorite because it was harder than the other bars for some reason. I always ate them with my protein shake for breakfast too.
I can’t wait to read your review of the bars!! I enjoyed the banana crunch! I thought the ones I had were really, really good. I was impressed with the short ingredient list, too 🙂
I published it back in July, but here’s a link to it: http://thetinyterror.com/2015/07/07/snacking-on-the-go-nakd-bar-review/
Thanks!!!
I got a box a couple months ago when they were having a sale. I really liked them especially the rhubarb (no one but me knows what that is) and it reminded me of my childhood and rhubarb pies. They are kind of small, so as a snack I usually eat two or three (no complaints). Thanks for the review!
Haha I know what rhubarb is!! I know what you mean though.. it’s not common!! They definitely are small, so I agree more than one is necessary, though that’s not so bad 🙂
I love that your whole family got in on the taste testing! I would want to try pecan pie and cashew cookie because those are “me” flavors…but cocoa orange sounds intriguing!
Haha, thanks!! My dad LOVED the pecan pie, so if you ever get a chance to try it, I’m sure it will be great!! The cocoa orange was wonderful. I love any fruit + chocolate combo, so I may be biased 😉
Ah these look so fun!! How have I not tried these yet?!
They’re great! I hope you get a chance to try them!
I love that you got your whole family involved in this! Cute! 🙂 The mocha one sounds like it would be my favorite! Yum! 🙂
Haha, thanks Rach!! It was fun to get everyone in on the action. It was so cute how seriously everyone took the taste testing, LOL. I bet you would love the mocha one!!
I never heard of these bars… What a great idea to get different opinions! The flavor combinations sound so interesting… and delicious!
Thanks, Nicole! The bars were really good! I highly recommend them if you ever get a chance to try them 🙂
I’ve seen these pop up on my insta feed a couple times so they always sounds tasty. Thanks for the solid review! The rhubarb and cashew cookie flavors sound good to me 🙂
They are very tasty! I think you’d like them, Sarah, because they have minimal ingredients. Just real food, you know?!
