Thank You

Hi everyone! I just wanted to say thank you for all of the comments, text messages, and tweets about my sickness and the missed marathon in my last post. You all made me feel a lot better with your kind words and care.

I’d also like to thank whoever invented crackers and DayQuil. It has taken me a few days to regain my strength, appetite, and zest for life in general. I’m honestly still not feeling 100%, but I’m doing much, much better!

I have even managed to dress in real people clothes instead of sweats and large t-shirts. Score.I spent the weekend just hanging out, taking it fairly easy, and enjoying the fall weather. Lola was walked.

A run was.. run. (It was pretty awful because I did it too soon after being sick. Oops. You live and learn.)

Candles were lit.

Work boots were purchased.

Smiles were shared.

It was just the kind of weekend I needed.

It wasn’t the weekend I had planned, but it was better than I could have planned because it was a part of God’s plan. I took it as a sign from Him to slow down and enjoy life and not get caught up in always doing instead of enjoying.

Of course I’m still bummed about the missed race, but it’s no biggie. I’m not sure if I’ll try to find another or if I’m just going to run for the sheer enjoyment of it for now. Any thoughts/input?! I’d love to hear from you 🙂

I hope everyone has a great week. I have an interesting/challenging weekend coming up!

  1. I think you always enjoy running and it shows. Sorry you couldn’t run in the marathon, but at least you had a good weekend and spent time with Jimmy, plus you’re feeling better. I would say give it a few weeks of running and see how you feel, you’re pretty far in your training so maybe you can find a marathon before it gets too chilly and do it? If you’re feeling a trip we have two coming up down here in SC in December and January… then Myrtle Beach in February. Super glad you’re recovering though- look at it this way you probably wouldn’t be running right now if you had done the marathon so it’s just recovering in a different way, I guess.

  2. I’m glad you’re feeling better! Hopefully, you’ll be back to feeling 100% soon. It looks like you still managed to have a fun and relaxing weekend though, which is great. I love that picture of you and Lola…so cute! As far as running goes, I think you should just enjoy it for now. I am not a runner, but it seems like fall would be the perfect time for outdoor runs, with the temperatures being cooler and the scenery being just gorgeous! That being said, you could see if there are any races coming up that you would like to run. It’s always nice to have something to look forward to!

  3. Awh Allie girl! I always miss the important posts 😦 Just went and caught up on what happened, I’m really proud of you for deciding not to run and listen to your body. After this post it shows that you certaintly made the right decision. It’s a hard call when we train so hard and put so much time into something for there to be that road block. It’s tough. BUT doing what is best for you and your body makes you stronger. Stronger physically and mentally. There will be other marathons. You will run one, probably two or three I have no doubts. Your passion for running is phenomenal and your passion for life is that of the same. Allie, keep focused and please also keep feeling better 🙂 Drink some tea and rest up that stomach! As always, loving your positive outlook!

  4. It does sound like you ended up with a good (if unplanned and still slightly ill) weekend after all! And oh my gosh, saltines are the best sick food! I don’t know how I’d ever feel better/survive a stomach bug without them!

  5. Glad you are feeling better! And girl, that picture of you running with the leaves is GORGEOUS! Like, something right off Pinterest!

  6. I’m sorry you were sick!! If it makes you feel better I missed my last half marathon because of an extreme allergic reaction :/ I wish they were better about giving refunds! You look great now though!! Cheers to saltines and dayquil 🙂

  7. That sucks about missing your marathon, but I might be in the same boat with you :\
At least you listened to your body and did what you thought was right!
