Time for..

It is finally time for the road race season, the best season of all!

Okay, I know I am a little early with this post because most 5k’s, 10ks, etc. don’t begin until spring but now is the time when the races are being posted and everyone can register! I get very excited!!

(That is my excited face, LOL)

So far I am signed up for two 10k’s and one 5k in April. I am really hoping to sign up for a half marathon in March with my boyfriends uncle! We will see!

I am particurarly excited for a 10k honoring a PA State Trooper who was killed by a drunk driver.

When I run a race, I like to know why I am running it for whom or what charity. Agreed?

I ran my first 5k last year in April and placed 1st in my age group with a time of 24:08. I got hooked after my 1st race!

I ran my second 5k the very next day. (I told ya I was hooked haha!!) My official time was 23:44

Puffy hair ball πŸ™‚

I made my brother and sister join me in my 3rd 5k that happened in early May.

It was chilly, but we all placed and more importantly had so much fun!!! (My time was 24:24)

Then in late May my whole family ran a 5k together πŸ™‚ Happy times.

I can’t seem to find those pictures but I will assure you it was fun!!! (My time was 23:18)

(This was a scorching 5k in a park, around 80 degrees!)

In the summer I completed a tri

In the fall I ran a half marathon with a time of 1:42.58

(I ran it with Jimmy’s uncle [not pictured] and we had soo much run running the 1st half of our half marathon together!)

My sister and I ran a Halloween costume 5k together on October 30th

The last road race of the season was Penn State’s Turkey Trot which I worked at AND ran. (BUSY DAY)

I think that is all for last season, my first season of running road races!

I had a ton of fun and truly enjoyed training for a full marathon (which I didn’t get to run due to injury) and various 5k’s!

I encourage everyone to give just one road race a try… I bet you’ll be hooked!

Have a great Tuesday πŸ˜€

The typical 2011 post

Yup, this is it. The typical New Years Resolution post πŸ™‚ If you just rolled your eyes when you read it, click off my blog !! Okay I have 3 general categories for my goals/resolutions of 2011: Life, Spiritual, and health + fitness.

Life

1. Don’t make fun of me but one of my goals is to dress nicer this year. I am a slob sometimes, or just plain lazy. Here are a few examples of my love for all things comfy:

Yes, in the picture on the left I AM wearing Β footed pj’s…

2. Walk my dogs more.. even if it is SUPER cold!!!

I walk Lola (on the left) about 3x a week.. she needs to be walked every day because she is a chubster!

3. Get out more and do fun things πŸ™‚ I could legit be a hermit because I love being home and hanging out in my kitchen cooking all day and reading everyone’s blogs. But I never regret going out once I actually get out :p

Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game! I am currently working on buying season tickets… if my credit card would actually work? Grr!

Spiritual

1. Have more Bible studies with my boyfriend. We have done them in the past, but sporadically. We have no trouble praying together (we do each time we are together) and talking about the Bible. We attend the same church (that’s where we met!) we just need to get on the ball with setting aside time to pop open our Bibles and read together πŸ™‚ Jimmy said he would like to studyΒ Ecclesiastes, sounds good to me!

2. Attend more church outings. Like I said: hermit. I always have fun when I go places with my church! This winter we went Christmas caroling and delivered cookies to elderly people. I had a great time and in about a week we are going turbo tubing, which I skipped last year. My reasoning? “I don’t feel like being cold”Β RIDICULOUS.

Just sitting with Jimmy.. he tubed and had a grand ol’ time! That shall be me this year :)!!!!!

Health & Fitness

1. Cook lots of new recipes! Okay, I actually don’t have a problem with this… I just want to say this because I know i’ll achieve it :p haha. New recipe I tried in December:

Humming Bird Cake!

2. Do more yoga. I love this goal so far πŸ™‚ I have done some yoga a few times in 2011 already and it feels so good! I love me some yoga, seriously I used to hate it but once I get into it I just relax πŸ™‚

3. Complete another triathalon, half-marathon, OR complete my 1st marathon!

Finishing my 2nd Tri. I loved completing a half marathon but I had originally trained for a full marathon, hopefully I can avoid injury this time around!

That about wraps it up for me! I have a few other goals: be patient with my family (especially lil sis!!!), wash my face more (ha…), see Jimmy more (we live 45 min. away), and just chill a lot πŸ˜€

What are you goals for 2011?
