We made Resurrection Rolls again! They’re meant to symbolize the burial and resurrection of Christ and are a great hands-on way to teach kids about the meaning of Easter.
They’re made by dipping a marshmallow in melted butter. It’s then rolled in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar and wrapped up in a crescent roll. When it bakes, the marshmallow disappears (melts). The marshmallow represents Jesus’ body and the crescent dough represents the tomb he was buried in. When you pull the rolls out of the oven, you coat them in butter and sprinkle them with more cinnamon and sugar.
After baking, the kids checked to see if Jesus (the marshmallow) rose from the tomb (the crescent roll)! And they got a sweet treat 😊
We went to my nephew’s birthday party over the weekend! The kids had so much fun and I loved hanging out with my family and seeing my nephew celebrate turning four-years-old. Wasn’t Lawson, just born?! Sadie was jumping on her cousins’ trampoline and hit her head off her knee. She had a good cry and forgot about it within ten minutes.
The next day, she said behind her ear hurt and felt like a bump. We told her it was probably from hitting her head the night before at the party. The next day she came to me and said “I found the bump!” so I looked and it definitely wasn’t from hitting her head… it was from our night on the trail. It was a tick. Ughhh.
I was expecting to see a bump… not little legs coming out of my child’s skin 🥴 What made matters worse was that we were on the trail on Friday and didn’t find the tick until Monday.
I made a quick call to the doctor and they said to remove the tick ourselves with tweezers. Welp, it was traumatic. Sadie was in pain and freaking out that we were poking at her. We only got half of the tick out, too. I called the doctor back again and they said it was okay for the tick to stay in her skin as long as it was dead. They prescribed her some strong antibiotics to treat her for Lyme disease.
This was Sadie’s second experience with a tick bite. It’s a few days later, and I’m pretty sure there’s still a tiny bit of the tick in her skin, which freaks me out! She is almost finished with the antibiotics, thankfully! Poor girl. She is such a trooper.
Moving on to happier things. I bought the kids an indoor bounce house. Or maybe it’s technically for me so they can play and I can get a few things done?! We are at that time of year when the weather is still iffy and they’re over being cooped up. Enter: bounce house.
I love that I can have this totally set up and blown up in about two minutes flat and they can get some energy out! I wish I would have bought this like five years ago 😂
How about a few more pictures?
Love these girls! It’s so funny seeing Dakota on this mat because I was in labor with her on it.
Hi from Dakota wearing Sadie’s hand-me-downs. My favorite!! She even wears Mordecai’s baby clothes, too haha. Poor girl. She will get some of her own clothes sometime 😉
Jimmy’s cousin (hi Katie!) has five kids. Pre-kids, I always told her I was amazed that she could get anything done with multiple kids. She said “Well, I didn’t have them all at once.” and that’s so true. She also told me that having multiple kids was often easier than having one and I was always like what?! How!? But I understand it a lot better now. When I just had Sadie, I had to entertain her and I didn’t have help. I was often lonely. Now having a baby with two other kids is busy, yes. But… they also help me so much, keep me company, and play with Dakota. It’s a huge blessing!
Mordecai has been into cooking with me lately! Both of the kids have been eating scrambled eggs lately and he loves to help. I love having him in the kitchen with me!
Other thoughts:
- Poor Mordecai is sick with something. He woke up from a nap with a weird cough and has had a fever. I feel so bad seeing him under the weather 🥺
- I read an article about seasonal allergies (Jimmy struggles so hard) and it said to take supplements 2-4 weeks before allergy season, so Jimmy is re-starting his favorite allergy supplement!
- Jimmy worked another night shift this week. Man do those night shifts throw us all off! The kids have a harder time going to bed, I don’t sleep well worrying about him all night, and then he’s home for a little in the morning and everyone is confused haha. I am thankful night shifts are not the norm for us.
- I picked up this book about how the birth rate in the U.S. is down, but a small percentage of women are choosing to have five or more children. Can’t wait to dive into this topic.
- I’m still loving our handheld milk frother. I made a tea latte the other day and frothed up some almond milk to go in it. Worked like a charm!
- I am going to make our family an Easter dinner and can’t decide what to make! Jimmy said he doesn’t want ham. Any ideas?
- My sister is having her son, Gideon, later this month. I cannot wait to meet him!
Well, that’s all I’ve got! It’s currently Thursday night as I type up this post. We’re driving home from Sadie’s computer coding class (Yes, I do 90% of my blogging in the car 😂) and then doing the bedtime routine!

Poor Sadie’s tick adventure! Seems like your getting in the grove with three amigos!
Love ❤️You!
Dad
🙂
She is such a trooper! We’re trying to get in a groove… slowly haha. Love you!
Poor Sadie! We don’t have tics on the West Coast so I’ve never even seen one, I can’t believe poor girl had two (!) separate encounters w them. I hope she’s okay 💗
There aren’t ticks on the west coast?! WHAT! I am so jealous, haha. She is doing much better now!!
Poor Sadie and her tick – and I knowww shes petrified of bugs of any sort so I’m sure this was very traumatic – I’m glad I got to talk to her after the horrible part of removing it.
Those Resurrection rolls look amazingggg!
Dakota is changing.every.day!!! I really feel she is a mix of both Sadie and Decky.
I honestly don’t have any remedies for allergies because I “don’t think” I have any. As of lately, by eyes have been feeling foggy and burning a bit in the am, but I don’t know if its an allergy to anything or not… sorry I’m of no help.
Love you,
Madre
She is such a champ through all the random things that seem to happen to her, lol!
We’ll have to make Resurrection rolls next time you’re over! The kids are *always* down to bake and eat sweets, haha.
Love you!
