Remember how I said I was going to be doing something surprising on Saturday? Well, the surprise didn’t happen. I got snowed/iced in on Friday night/Saturday morning. I had a fun day anyways and the surprise will be postponed until February. Hopefully the weather will cooperate!Β This was the scene outside my window around noon, after the snowplow came.
Since I didn’t do “the surprise” on Saturday, I had fun doing other things this weekend like:
1. Running on the dreadmill. I ran 32 miles last week. Not too shabby, but I didn’t go along with my 2012 goal of running in the cold 2x a week. Oh well!2. Eating delicious food. Typical.
Iced coffee after an ice storm. Hmmm…
Mocha
Chicken tenders, mac & cheese, and green beans.
I went out to eat with Jimmy at Eat n Park and got the rosemary chicken with white wine sauce.
3. Did a little bit of homework with a side of peanut butter.4. Woke up looking crazy and messy.
5. Walked Lola on a local trail! I don’t have a picture but she was really happy to play in the white powder.

I can’t believe Penn State has already started the third week of the spring semester! I am finally beginning to feel settled into my classes and the coursework. It feels good and I wish I could go back to three weeks ago when I was so nervous and tell myself that everything would be okay. That’s life though!
I’m thinking about writing up an informational post on eating seasonally. What do you guys think? What are your favorite winter foods?!
I liked iced mocha in the winter… π
The outside temperature has no effect on what I eat either– Ill drink iced coffee in the snow, hot oatmeal in the summer π
Dang that’s a lot of snow!! The cold doesn’t really affect my eats either haha I love me some smoothies all year round π
The anticipation for the surprise is gonna kill me!
My favorite winter foods… coffee and hot chocolate. Seriously, I’m keeping my keurig hot these days, literally. But, I also live in the South so temperature doesn’t have much of an affect on what I eat. I could drink an iced coffee today, after all our high is around 70… anyway. Congrats on your 32 miles and I think it’s totally okay that you did not run in that show, don’t even worry about running in the cold when there’s snow like that out!
Seriously. I dream about and eat’n park trip. I miss it so much! hahaha
Wahhh. Sorry to hear about the snow ruining your surprise. Rude-let’s just move down south ha. Your training is really increasing, I’m so happy for you! Who cares that your running is not outdoors. I def think that you are still getting it in so that is all that should matter.
Squash and sweet potatoes! I’ve been living on sweet potatoes lately, since my parents still have TONS from the garden stored away–that means free, seasonal AND organic. π
Jealous of all your snow, even if it ruined a surprise. So pretty! And ugh, I’ve been a major running-in-the-cold failure too. It just hurts! Where’s the fun in that?
Your hair looks super cute messy!
And wow! that is a lot of snow!
stay warm, girl!!!
Well, I think skipping running in the show is OK. I think there’s a difference between running in the cold and running in the snow. π LOL
So true! Running in the snow scares me!
Homework with a side of PB, story of my life.
You KNOW I would be all about a seasonal eating post!
Stay warm Allie and Happy Tuesday!
Your snow picture looks like what we had over the weekend here in Chicago. Ugh. It’s only fun when you have snow days and school is cancelled. Not so much fun when you have to drive in it to work.
Love your hair in a cute messy bun like that!
I love eating warm oatmeal in the winter but I still love drinking smoothie and eating a bowl of salad any time of the year. π
Chicken tenders & mac and cheese – such a great comfort food combo! π
I love chili on cold days! YUM
I loved how much snow we got! Finally an actual Pittsburgh snowfall! π
I don’t care how cold it gets–iced coffee is still the best thing ever! We got a ton of snow too!
You always have the cutest iphone cases!
Hahahah I love your crazy face! π I don’t think I’ve run 32 miles in my entire life… you rock! π
Soup is my winter fav!
I am waiting for a snowstorm like that!
Love chicken tenders. This makes me want to run down to Publix and buy a box. Don’t knock it Publix chicken is the bomb. π
