My life in 30 Days

My life in 30 days, day 24

My life in 30 days, day 24 = A picture of something you wish you could change

I wish that it wasn’t SO necessary to have a college diploma to have a job.

It is getting ridiculous, a diploma isn’t enough sometimes. Now some jobs are requiring that you went to graduate school, achieved your masters degree, or want everyone to have a doctorate. That is out of control! I wish I could change that.

In the 1980’s it wasn’t like this at all, how have times changed THAT quickly? Neither of my parents went to college (They were in the Navy) and they both have had jobs all of their lives. If they were to graduate high school today and try to find employment I have a feeling they would have a very hard time.

I wish I could change that.

That is all for now!

Bye bye and have a great Monday 🙂

My life in 30 days, day 23

My life in 30 days, day 23 = A picture of your favorite book

Wow this is legit hard. Of course my favorite book is this:

The Holy Bible will always be my favorite book, it contains no mistakes. Every single passage in the Bible is there for a reason. It is truly a beautifully written book and instruction manual for life itself.

Favorite books within the Bible? Ruth, 1 Samuel (Currently reading), Psalms, Proverbs, Genesis, and Luke.

Other favorite books? Sure!

Redeeming Love. By Francine Rivers. It is based on the book of Hosea in the Bible. I could NOT put this book down!

Another book I really couldn’t put down. The Atonement Child. Also by Francine Rivers.. you just have to read it. Seriously.

Okay you knew this one was coming and I don’t care what you think of me after I say it….

The Twilight Saga. By Stephanie Meyer. I believe these books are well written for being about vampires, werewolves, and teen love. I love them and I have enjoyed the movies as well.

Okay, 2 more:

Julie and Julia ! This is an inspiring book about cooking AND blogging. It is also a movie. Can you tell I read books then watch the movie? I am always disappointed by the movie. (I was especially disappointed by My Sister’s Keeper.. the movie was NOTHING like the book *sigh*)

My Life in France by Julia Child. Wow, I loved this book as well! Julia Child really knows how to weave together good food and a full and happy life. She wrote so vividly, I could imagine myself in France at a market. . . !

I think that is all for books, though I know I have read so many good books that I should be writing a book about good books. I ADORE reading. In fact, I received a $50 gift card to Barnes and Noble for Christmas and I CANNOT wait to use it!!

I just finished this book:

and this one:

🙂

Reading is definitely my ‘guilty pleasure’ or my ‘me time’ where I zone out and truly relax. When I ‘splurge’ it is usually on books or running shoes. I tell my parents it’s better than splurging on beer or something else that is unproductive :p!!!

This weekend has absolutely flown by and I just realized I start my spring semester tomorrow at 9AM! I am kind of excited, but don’t tell anyone ;)!!

Tomorrow = Speech class and Strength training class. Then work from 5-7PM (YAY MY SHOULDERS GET A BREAK FROM SWIMMING !!!) I also might be seeing a high school friend before she leaves for her college! Woo hoo!

Also, I am making dinner tomorrow, here is a preview:

The recipe is from A Taste of Home

Black Bean and Cornmeal pie! I have never made it before, but I have made a turkey pot pie with a biscuit topping. This is kind of like beans with a corn bread topping baked in the oven 🙂 I didn’t realize it, but my house will now be participating in Meatless Monday ! Go Smith’s!!!

What is a good book?!?!
