Date: August 11th, 2012
Race Distance: 3.1 miles
Location: Keystone State Park
Air Temperature: 59*-60* + windy
Water Temperature: 70’s
Water conditions: Choppy
Place: 3rd in age group & 14th overall
Other Notes: This was a fun race! When I swam this race last year I actually got sun burnt, so I didn’t expect it to be so chilly this year. The water conditions were tougher this time around too but I like a good challenge! The race benefited the Heart Institute at Children’s Hospital of UPMC and all of the participants combined raised more than $8,000! I am so happy that I participated in such a special event :). Articles on the race can be found here and here.
That just looks super chilly. Great job sticking through that. I’m not the biggest fan of lake swimming personally.
Brr! Looks chilly, but super fun!! You rock Allie! 🙂
Nice job but as Alexandra said BRRRR
Oh mannn coldddd, but congrats Allie, a great accomplishment!
Wow! You are a rockstar!! I wouldn’t have been able to brave those temps.
Eeek at least the water was warmer than the air!! Great job, though! Impressive distance! I don’t think I have never swam that far before without stopping!
Thats awesome!! Congrats
