I know, it’s August. My mom’s chili is just so tasty that we eat it year-round. It’s a simple recipe, but I promise it won’t disappoint!
Mom’s Chili
Ingredients:
1lb ground beef or turkey
1 Tbs olive oil
2 medium green peppers, chopped
1 onion (yellow or red), chopped
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 can (28-ounces) diced tomatoes
1 can (28 ounces) tomato puree
2 cans (15 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 Tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons cumin
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Directions:
1. Heat olive oil on medium high in a large dutch oven. Add the ground beef or turkey and cook until browned. Add the onion, green pepper, and garlic. Cook until vegetables are slightly soft, about 5-7 minutes.
2. Add the rest of the ingredients. Bring to a boil and simmer for an hour, stirring occasionally. Serve with corn bread and enjoy!!

I love some good chili!
Aw, I love chili! This post makes me so excited for Fall…chili, soup, pumpkin, hot chocolate, crisp air!
I love chili (although I’m vegetarian). Clay made some last night and it’s super hot here too, some things are just good year round!
Funny story: my mom used to make chili all the time when I was growing up, but I don’t like kidney beans and would pick out every single one. I haven’t had it in a while, and I have expanded my tastes, so I may be more bold and actually eat one now! haha
I didn’t know there was a season to eat chili, we eat it year round here too. That looks quite good!
We ALWAYS eat cornbread with chili! This looks delicious!
Mmm, chili is definitely a year-round option!
I love that you rocked chili in the heat. I love the stuff!
I’m late, but just read your tummy update. Glad you’re sticking with it. I’m crossing my fingers for you!
mmm i love chili! 🙂
I agree. Chili should be enjoyed all year round! 🙂 I actually made some on Thursday night in honor of pre-season football games. Hee, hee.
