One amazing year with our Dakota Rae!
Over the past year, Dakota has gone from a sleepy newborn to a baby on the move. She loves her siblings and has the sweetest smile. Here’s what Dakota is up to as a one-year-old!
Growth 16 lbs 11 oz (8th %), 28 inches (13th %), and 44.8 cm head (47th %).
Wearing 12 month clothes and size 3 diapers.
Eating Mom’s milk and almost everything we give her. She especially enjoys peaches and grapes. She still loves to put her leg up on her highchair while she eats. 😂
Personality Sweet, serious, and content. Mordecai continues to be the one to make her smile and laugh the most!
Nicknames Dak, Kota, Kota Bear, Koko, and Kody.
Looks Like Her mama and big brother. Her hair is growing into an adorable blonde mullet, her skin is fair, and she has blue eyes. She has quite a few teeth, too!
Sleeping She goes to bed around 7:00 pm and wakes up at 6:30 am. She takes two daytime naps for an hour or two.
New Skills Playing peek-a-boo, cruising, using utensils and snack cups, climbing anything remotely climbable, mimicking sounds, standing, trying to put shoes on, and talking here and there (she said “Decky” a few times and “peek-a-boo” once!).
Likes Her siblings, eating, music, baby dolls, sucking her fingers, bubbles, climbing onto the dishwasher, cars, and being outside.
Dislikes Having her diaper changed, sitting in her carseat if the car isn’t moving, and me setting her down or leaving her.
Favorite Products Snack cups, straw cups, umbrella stroller, crib sheets, play phone, pull-on diapers, pounding toy, diaper pail, hazelnut peanut butter puffs and wipes.
Other Notes Dakota had low hemoglobin at her nine month checkup so the doctor retested it at her 12 month checkup. It was even lower, so they prescribed her iron. We’ll recheck her hemoglobin again at 15 months and do a blood panel if it hasn’t improved! She will also see the vascular surgeon next month to go over how things are with her hemangioma. I’ll be sure to update here on how that goes.
She is very close to walking. I think she will take her first unassisted steps within the next couple of weeks. She wants to keep up with her brother and sister so badly!
That’s everything for Dakota at a year old. She is so precious and such a blessing to our family! I am looking forward to watching her grow and continue to become the little person God made her to be. 💜
