So blessed

This morning I woke up in my cozy bed, checked my Blackberry cell phone, drank a glass of clean water, had some cereal, and an apple. I turned on my parent’s flat screen television and felt sick.

What the heck is my problem?

I am so richly blessed everyday and I hardly think about it. I was watching coverage from Joplin, MO and my heart hurt. I couldn’t believe how devastated the city was and I couldn’t stop thinking about the many people who are suffering as I just go about my day like nothing has happened.

I read Lindsay’s post on blessings yesterday and it kind of inspired me this morning.

I was going to do a post on something that now seems vain in spite of the disaster in MO. I want to count my blessings now!

5 RANDOM BLESSINGS I AM THANKFUL FOR:

1. Clean and running water in my home!

2. Having a job and being able to make money to support myself and give to my Church.

3. My eyesight! I can look for seashells, read blogs, see the ocean, and look at my family and friends beautiful faces.4. My truck. I can drive to work, school, etc.

5. Blogging friends. I have talked to such wonderful people through blogging and I love everyone 🙂

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17

What are you thankful for?

  1. What a great post!

I am thankful for a warm house in the winter and a cool one in the summer. A job that allows me to earn money for groceries, bills, savings, etc. A car that gets me where I need to go. My friends and family. And good health.

  2. I am thankful for my friends/family, and all the numerous opportunities I have (school, gym, college [eventually])! I am so blessed.

  3. Thank you for the reminder this morning, Allie. Yes we are SO richly blessed.

I love your pickup , BTW! Takes me back to when I had one, before we were 5 🙂

I am blessed to have an AWESOME church family that I can truly call “family”.

  4. We truly have so much to be grateful for in this life. Even when we think things aren’t going great, there are a million things going right! Our ability to breath, the beauty of a flower, how amazing a hug can feel…I could go on and on!

  6. Love this post!! I am thankful for having a job, being able to study, enjoy my hobbies, see my friends and spent time with my family..and for many other things which I think about less then they deserve!!

  7. Lovely post! I am thankful that I have the life I do and can do the things I love. Broad, but there is just so much! I don’t know how I could narrow it down to more than…life.

  8. Great post! I felt so sorry for those families in Joplin, I can’t imagine the sorrow they must be going through 😦
I’m thankful for living in a nation where I can worship God, a happy, healthy family (dogs included), having a house with running water, being able to buy healthy foods, a comfy bed, friends…I could just keep going. Oh and I’m thankful I got to know you!
I love these kinds of posts–they really make you stop and appreciate what you have. 🙂

  9. I am so sad for the poor people in Joplin.

I too am SO grateful for my eyesight. I try to imagine how impossible life would be without my eyes and I simply can’t imagine it.

    Great post Allie.

  10. I’m grateful that communication is so instant and so easy now. Although my sister is away from home right now, we can call, text, and email her, and she can respond instantly.
I’m also grateful for the bloggers who share their lives with others. 🙂

  11. Allie,

What a great idea. I never would have thought of sight as something to be thankful for, but you’re so right – it enables us to do pretty much everything! 🙂

I am most thankful for my health, happiness, wonderful family & friends, amazing husband, and cuddly fur children. 🙂

  12. The damage is absolutely devastating. So many lives lost and counting. It’s crazy because it’s only an hour away from where I live!

I’m thankful to live in a community who are so willing to not work for a day or two and help out the families who are in dire need of the basic necessities we take for granted. Love the verse! Have an awesome week, Allie. 🙂

  13. I am thankful for my family, my friends, my comfy bed, my phone, my blog friends, and so much more! Sometimes it’s hard to think about all the things you are truly thankful for because their are oh-so many!
    Have a great day, Allie!
