past and future

Dear 15-year-old me

When I was 15-years-old, I definitely had certain thoughts, hopes, and wishes about what my life would be like in the future.

It’s been a little over five years since I turned 15, so I thought it would be fun to tell my 15-year-old self some things about my future that I would have never guessed would happen!

Dear Allie…
-Despite what your doctor told you, you’re not going to grow any taller. In fact, your little sister is going to be taller than you in about five years.

-The boy you’re dating right now is going to cheat on you. With your neighbor. Ouch.

-You’re going to switch from public to private school next year.

-Your family is going to switch churches as well.

-Your new school and church are going to be tough adjustments, but your relationship with Jesus is going to be stronger than you ever thought possible.

-You’re going to meet a boy at church who you’ll date for at least the next four years. He’s going to treat you like a boyfriend should. You’re both going to grow together in your relationship with God.23
-I know this is hard to believe, but swimming isn’t going to be the main focus of your life in the future. You’re actually going to love running long distances. Creepy, I know.

-Your brother is going to move away to attend Penn State and you’re going to miss him like none other. You’ll still stay close through silly text messages and frequent visits.056

-You’re going to become very close with your younger sister. I know you fight now, but you’re going to share laughter, secrets, and clothes in just a few years. It will be awesome.

-You and your best friend are going to drift apart because you are going to choose not to drink alcohol or party.

-You will get your drivers license when you turn 16. Unfortunately, you will be the passenger in an almost-fatal car accident. It will involve surgery, tears, and will make a big impact on your life. I’m sorry you have to go through this.caraccident

-Your new puppy, Lola, is going to be a huge part of your life. You will spoil her and walk her almost every day.lola3

-You’ll stop straightening your hair to look like other girls. Your natural curls are what God gave you. Work ’em.

-You are going to love coffee, not just Starbucks frappuccinos, but big-girl coffee and lots of it.

-You’re going to develop lactose intolerance, so enjoy all the ice cream and McDonald’s shamrock shakes while you still can.

– Though you think you’re going to go to Texas Christian or the University of North Carolina, you’re actually going to attend Penn State and stay close to home and your family. You won’t regret it.

-You will achieve a 4.0 GPA in college. Rock on.

-Your mom is going to teach you how to cook. You are going to love it.

-You’re going to become a Spinning instructor. Do you even know what Spinning is? That’s okay. You’ll love it, too.0012

If you think you’re blessed right now, just wait until you’re 20. Your life is going to be amazing.

When I was 15-years-old, I never would have dreamed about the things that I would do, experience, or go through in just five short years. I can say this for sure: God’s plans are so much better than mine.

What would you tell your 15-year-old self?
