Resurrection Rolls

Resurrection rolls on a plate

If you’ve never made resurrection rolls before, they’re such a simple and meaningful way to share the Easter story with kids.

Resurrection rolls start with a marshmallow (representing Jesus’ body) that’s dipped in butter and rolled in cinnamon sugar (symbolizing the oils and spices used for burial). Then it’s wrapped up in crescent roll dough—like the tomb—and baked.

The “wow” moment happens when they come out of the oven. You open them up and the marshmallow has melted away, leaving an empty space inside. Just like the empty tomb on Easter morning! It’s one of those little traditions that sticks with kids (and honestly, adults too).

Resurrection Rolls

Ingredients
1 can crescent roll dough
8 large marshmallows
2 tablespoons melted butter
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Mix together the cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl.
3. Separate the crescent roll dough into triangles.
4. Dip each marshmallow in melted butter, then roll it in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
5. Place the marshmallow on a piece of dough and carefully wrap it up completely, pinching the seams closed (this part is important so it doesn’t leak!).
6. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until golden brown.
7. Let them cool slightly, then open them up and see the “empty tomb” inside!
